I missed this first time round - great name, BritNed.
HVDC makes me wish I was an electrical engineer, almost..
Interesting article - Investment in rural infrastructure, agriculture and planning. Much of what EWB is trying to support in Ghana and other African countries.
This is brilliant and unfortunately it makes me want an iphone even more. The idea is great and I think (as the article says) it will certainly inspire people to acknowledge their environment. What use is technology for if it doesn't help people understand the world around them?

Transparent solar cells - so cool! Going to be big for the 'green' building industry and would be great to see it combined with smart glass technologies, see Simon Heijdens 'Shade'. That installation was amazing to see in real life, no doubt it will also be incorporated somehow by the Adaptive Buildings team.

I was introduced to his writing by way of a christmas gift. I find it very intersting, clear and in the case of this book inspiring. Check it out if you can. Ill Fares the Land by Tony Judt | The New York Review of Books

By coincidence it ties in with this interesting speech by Jeremy Rifkin i was emailed today. It was at a conference in Toronto this September, (I missed it - canoeing), It sounds a little rehearsed but certainly strikes the right chords.
FF the 3 intro speakers.
In the Q&A I particularly like his view on awesome..
Great animation - not too scary for regular folks!
Watch 'Manufactured Landscapes' to see the 'recycling' depots in China - not so great..
